Hastmann and Mavs Champions Again

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. -- Junior Tanis Hastmann captured her third straight individual title to lead the Mavericks to their second consecutive North Central Conference golf title Monday. Hastmann fired a two-over-par 74 at the Westward Ho Country Club for a 221 total. The Mavericks, under first-year head coach Tim Nelson, had a third-round 306 for a 918 total, 13 shots ahead of runner-up Minnesota State, Mankato.
Stephanie Oster shot a 78 for a 227 total for a tie for fifth place, Amanda Stock had a 76 for a 231, Sandy Strate a 78 for 243 and Katie Etter an 82 for 247.
Hastmann, from Winnipeg, Man., won the individual title by one shot over MSU's Kady Steele, despite suffering from a sprained ankle, and along with Oster earned a berth on the all-NCC team.
