Three Recruits Sign on to Maverick Swimming

The University of Nebraska at Omaha women's swimming and diving team has added three recruits to their roster for the 2004-05 season.
Lindsey Miletta and Chelsea Duimstra both of Papillion, Neb. and Jessica Hessel of Wichita, Kan. have signed national letters of intent to attend UNO.
"We are extremely happy to get Midwestern girls," said head coach Todd Samland. "It is our philosophy to sign Nebraska girls in November because we try to support those who want to stay and swim in Nebraska."
Miletta (Papillion LaVista High School) has placed in the top 12 at the Nebraska State Championships in 2002 and 2003 in the 100-yard and 200-yard freestyle.
"I was really impressed by his (Samland) patience and how he teaches," said Miletta. "I'm looking forward to swimming really well for the team."
Duimstra (Papillion LaVista High School) has placed in the top six in the Nebraska State Championships all three years of her high school career. In 2002, she finished second in the 100-yard butterfly, and in 2003 she finished third in the 100-yard butterfly. Duimstra is an honor roll student and a member of the National Honor Society.
"The camaraderie of the team," said Duimstra, "makes me really excited to be a part of the program."
Hessel (East High School) was a first team All-City member in 2001, 2002 and 2003. In 2003, she placed second in the 50-yard and 100-yard freestyle at the Kansas State Championships as well as making first team All-State. She is also an honor roll student.
"After visiting with the team and coach," said Hessel, "UNO was definitely a place I could see spending the next four years at."
Samland believes these girls have great potential to build upon the success that the program has already achieved. He looks forward to their impact.
