Mutual of Omaha Invitational Showcases Tough Compe

The University of Nebraska at Omaha women's swimming and diving team will host the fifth annual Mutual of Omaha Invitational, Dec.5 and 6 at the HPER Pool on the UNO campus.
The invite brings in over 380 swimmers (men and women) from 12 different schools around the region. Athletes from Wisconsin, Minnesota, South Dakota, Colorado, Missouri and Nebraska will compete in the preliminary/finals format meet. Four of the teams placed in the top 20 last year at the NCAA Division II Nationals.
"With so many schools and athletes," said UNO head swimming coach Todd Samland, "the competition is to be intense with the goal to make it back as one of the top 18 who swims at night."
The preliminaries begin at 10 a.m. on Dec. 5 with the finals starting at 4 p.m. On Dec. 6, the preliminaries start at 9 a.m. and the finals at 3 p.m.
The diving competition will take place at Millard West High School on Dec. 6 at 8 a.m.
"Because of the quality of the teams and the superstars from each team, UNO will be fighting for a top three spot by the end of the meet," Samland said.
Admission is $3 for adults and $2 for children.
