Mavericks Place Seventh in the Nation

Grand Forks, N.D.-- The University of Nebraska at Omaha 2002-2003 swimming and diving team finished their season Saturday in seventh-place at the NCAA Division II National Championships.
Truman State won convincingly for the third straight year with 682 points. Behind the Bulldogs were Drury University (410), UC-San Diego (365.5), West Chester University (365.5), CS-Bakersfield (305) and UC-Davis (247). UNO finished with 233.5 points and seventh out of 29 schools and just ahead of the host school North Dakota (219).
Leading the Mavericks Saturday was senior Ali Petersen who brought home the bronze medal in the 200 backstroke. Petersen finished third with a time of 2:03.07. Kelli Dudley of Truman State won with a time of 2:00.53.
Also doing well for UNO in the final day of the season was freshman Ashley Renshaw who finished sixth in the 200 breastroke (2:21.61).
The Mavericks end the season with a 7-3 dual record, a first-place finish in the Jackrabbit Invitational, a second-place finish at the UNO Mutual of Omaha Invite, second at the NCC Championships and seventh at the NCAA Championships.
