Mavs 2nd After First Round

BIG RAPIDS, MICH. -- Amanda Stock and Tanis Hastmann each fired 77s to lead the Mavericks into second place after the first round in the 36-hole Bulldog Women's Fall Invitational Saturday. UNO's 322 total on the 5,976-yard, par-72 Katke Golf Course, trails first-round leading Grand Valley State by 13 shots. Stock and Hastmann are both two shots off the individual lead going into Sunday's final round. The other UNO scores include Stephanie Oster, 83, Sandy Stratte, 85, Katie Etter, 86 and Mandy Houtz 88.
DePaw is third in the 19-team season-opening tournament, three shots behind the Mavericks. Northern Kentucky is fourth, four shots back of UNO in the meet that is hosted by Ferris State University.
After the Bulldog Invitational, the Mavericks will compete in the Laker Invitational in Grand Valley, Mich., on Monday and Tuesday.
