
Mav Swimmers 7-2 After Win Over Kearney

The Mavs finished first in nine out of 16 events to defeat Nebraska-Kearney 142-96 in dual action Sunday afternoon at HPER Pool. Veronica Barna and Megan Jamieson each placed first in two individual events to help push the Mavs to 7-2 on the season in duals while UNK fell to 1-3.
The Mavs opened up the dual with seven straight first-place finishes. The 200 yard medley relay team of Sarah Clark, Vanessa Fleguel, Ashley Renshaw and Martina Zamecnik took first with a time of 1:51.93 in the opening event. Stacy Cook followed with a Maverick season-best time of 11:00.39 in the 1000 yard freestyle and Barna also set a season-best with a time of 1:57.73 in the 200 yard freestyle. Jen Feyerherm had a 1:05.65 in the 110 yard backstroke while Jamieson clocked in at 1:10.21 in the 100 yard breaststroke. Fleguel's time of 2:18.46 was good enough for first in the 200 yard butterfly and Renshaw posted a 26.03 in the 50 yard freestyle.
The Mavs closed out their first-place finishes with a time of 55.43 by Barna in the 100 yard freestyle and 2:33.92 by Jamieson in the 200 yard breaststroke.
The AquaLoper's Jennifer Atterbury won both the one and two meter diving events with scores of 269.30 and 228.80, respectively.
The Mavs will head to Lincoln to meet Nebraska in a 1 p.m. dual next Saturday.
