Stock's 79 Leads Mavs in Rainy Opener

CITRUS SPRINGS, FLA. -- Amanda Stock turned in a 7-over 79 for the best round for the Mavericks as they opened the spring season in the Lady Herd Invitational at El Diablo Golf Club Monday, but as a team UNO dipped to 15th place before rain halted play. The final five holes will be tacked onto Tuesday's final 18-hole round in the 54-hole event.
Yale holds the team lead with a 308, with Kentucky at 310. The Mavericks are at 350 in the 16-team tournament.
The other Maverick scores included an 86 by Tanis Hastmann, Katie Etter, 90; Sandy Stratte 95, and Stephanie Oster 96. Ashley Sipe, competing as an individual, shot an 84.
Yale's Cindy Shin was the first-round individual leader with a 2-under 70.
