Hastmann Captures 3rd Straight Meet Win

WASECA, MINN. -- Tanis Hastmann conquered 25-30 miles per hour winds Sunday to post an 86 and win her third straight tournament title, helping the Mavericks to a second-place finish in the MSU Invitational at Waseca Lakeside Country Club.
Hastmann's 74-86--160 edged runner-up Kady Steele of Minnesota State, Mankato by one shot. Minnesota State won the team title with a 339 Sunday and a 665 total, while UNO finished second with a 326-346-672.
The other UNO scores included Ashley Sipe, 82-87--169; Sandy Stratte, 84-86--170; Stephanie Oster, 86-87--173 and Katie Etter, 89-94--183.
Hastmann has won three times in the spring and four times in all during the 2003-04 season. In succession, she has won in the Ironwood Classic in Omaha, the Best Western Riverport Invitational in Winona, Minn., and in the MSU Invitational. Last fall, she won the North Central Conference title for a third straight year.
UNO, ranked first in the region, will be idle until competing in the NCAA II regional tournament May 4-5 in Mankato, Minn.
