Nelson Named Regional Coach of the Year

First-year head coach Tim Nelson has been named the North Region NCAA Division II Coach of the Year by the National Golf Coaches Association. Nelson took over the UNO women's program last summer and guided the team to seven tournament titles, including the North Central Conference championship in October.
The Mavericks also had three second-place finishes over the course of the fall and spring seasons. UNO finished fourth in the North Regional tournament. He was named the North Central Conference's Coach of the Year last fall.
The long-time Omaha teaching professional, a member of the PGA since 1972, took over as head coach in June, 2003, after serving one season as the head women's coach at College of St. Mary in Omaha.
