Maverick Relay Team Advances to Finals

Walnut, Calif.--Nebraska-Omaha's 1600 meter relay team of Sarah Menghini, Laura Gass, Amanda Mahan and Ashley Freeman finished second in their heat and had the fourth-fastest time (3:43.00) as they qualified for the 4x400 meter finals during day 2 of the NCAA Division II Track and Field National Championships Friday.
Menghini and Laverne Monger ran in the 200 meter prelims, but neither Maverick qualified for the finals. Kalyn Byers finished 10th in the heptathlon while teammate Debbie Akerly finished 14th. The three-day championship meet will conclude on Saturday.
