Mavs Open Season in 2 Tournaments

The Mavericks will open the season with a pair of Michigan Tournaments over the Labor Day Weekend, led by second-team All-American senior Tanis Hastmann and junior Amanda Stock. Each led the Mavs to second-place finishes in the Ferris State and Grand Valley State meets.
The Mavs will play in the Ferris State Invitational in Big Rapdis, Mich., on Sept. 4-5 and in the Laker Invitational at Grand Valley, Mich., on Sept. 6-7. Both are 36-hole tournaments featuring some of the top teams in NCAA II.
Hastmann finished second last year in the Ferris State Invitational and tied for seventh in the Laker Invitational. Stock finished tied for third at Ferris State and tied for fourth at Grand Valley.
The other Mavs making the initial trip for second-year coach Tim Nelson include senior Ashley Sipe and true freshmen Kim Kuchar, Sara Wolfe and Lindsay Newton.
