Mavs Defeat Aqualopers

OMAHA, NEB.--After its perfect dual record was scratched Saturday by Iowa State, the UNO swimming and diving team defeated UNK Sunday afternoon 129-83.
The Mavericks placed first in eight out of 13 events, claiming the top two spots in six events.
The Mavs swept through the relay events taking the 200-yard medley(Chelsea Duimstra, Adrienne Losee, Ashley Renshaw, and Martina Zamecnik) with a time of 1:53.84, and the 200-yard freestyle (Ashlee Brittain, Adrienne Losee, Ashley Renshaw, and Martina Zamecnik)clocked at 1:44.56.
Jamie Grogan finished first in the one meter diving with a score of 297.60, followed by freshman Sheena Kafka, 260.70.
Other event winners included Ashley Barna 19:02.02 in the 1650-yard freestyle; Sarah Clark with a time of 1:59.67 in the 200-yard freestyle; Bridgette Schram clocking a time of 25.53 in the 50-yard freestyle; Megan Guthniller 2:21.16, in the 200 yard IM; and Veronica Barna with a time of 1:11.92 in the 100-yard breaststroke.
With the dual victory, UNO is 5-1 on the season in its dual meets. Next competition for the Mavs will in two weeks, first hosting UNL and Northern Colorado Friday Jan. 28 at the HPER Pool set for 5:30 p.m. Following Friday's competition, UNO will host Northern Iowa and Northern Colorado Saturday at noon in the HPER Pool.
