3 New Members Slated for Hall of Fame

The 30th annual University of Nebraska at Omaha Athletic Hall of Fame Banquet Wednesday, Nov. 2 will feature the induction of three All-Americans from the school's track, wrestling and volleyball programs.
The newest inductees include Carri Butler Hutcherson, who earned All-American honors 16 times during her track and field career; Pat Kelley III, who was a three-time wrestling All-American, and Tanya Cate, volleyball All-American, who helped lead the Mavs to the 1996 national title. The addition of the three will increase the membership to 86.
Tickets for the event at the Holiday Convention Centre, 72nd and Grover Streets, are $50 each or $500 for a table of 10 and may be ordered through the UNO Athletic Department at 554-2506. The banquet will begin at 6 p.m. with a social hour, followed by dinner at 7 and the induction program beginning at 8 p.m.
Carri Butler Hutcherson
She earned All-American status 16 times during her four year (1994-98) career in track and field. She had three second-place finishes and three third-place finishes in the outdoor and indoor nationals. She won 16 NCC events during her career and was named the outstanding athlete at the NCC outdoor meet in 1995 and was a member of the NCC all-academic team in 1998. Her performances rank among the school's best in several events and she still holds the 400-meter indoor and outdoor school records.
Pat Kelley III
He compiled a 122-42 record during his 1992-97 career as a 190-pound wrestler. Kelley, from Cody, Wyo., finished fourth twice and second as a three-time NCAA II All-American from 1995-97. He was voted UNO's outstanding wrestler in 1996 and earned an NCAA post-graduate scholarship in 1997. He was a four-time Academic All-North Central Conference selection.
Tanya Cate
She was named the North Central Conference MVP and selected to the AVCA All-American first team in 1997. She was also a second-team AVCA All-American in 1996 and a two-time all-NCC and all-North Central regional pick in 1996-97. She earned academic all-NCC honors in 1997 and was the female athlete of the year at UNO the same year. She is fifth in career kills with 1,450, sixth in digs with 1,438 and fifth in block assists with 351.
