Stock Tames Wind for 77 as Mavs Win

LINCOLN, Neb. -- Senior Amanda Stock tamed gusty winds at Highlands Golf Course Monday, firing a final round 77 to earn medalist honors and lead the Mavericks to the team title in the Nebraska Wesleyan Invitational. Stock's 155 total over the 36-hole event edged teammate Carly Froehlich, who finished a shot behind at 156.
The Mav Red team finished with a 321-320--641 total, while the UNO Black team shot 334-327--661 to finish second. Truman State's 336-333--669 was third.
Stock, from Hermann, Mo., had rounds of 78-77 and Froehlich knitted together identical rounds of 78 while competing for the Black team.
The Red team scores:
Stock, 78-77--155; Kate O'Dea 77-81--158; Mandy Houtz 82-81--163; Lindsay Newton 85-81--166, and Lynn Mulligan 84-86--170.
The Black team scores:
Froehlich 78-78--156; Sara Wolfe 86-75--161; Allyson Yung 81-83--164, and Amber Dodge 89-91--180.
The next Maverick action will come this weekend when they host the North Central Conference men's and women's championships. Saturday and Sunday rounds will begin at 11 a.m. at Elkhorn's Indian Creek Golf Course. The final round of the 54-hole event will be at 9 a.m. on Monday at Shadow Ridge Country Club.
