Mavs Third After 1st NCC Round

ELKHORN, Neb. -- Amanda Stock shot a two-over 74 and Lindsay Newton a 76 Saturday to lead the Mavericks into third place after the first round of the 54-hole North Central Conference golf tournament. The second round will begin Sunday at 11 a.m.
North Dakota leads the team race with a first-round 316, while Minnesota State, Mankato is next at 317. UNO is third at 327 on the 6,018-yard, par-72 Indian Creek Golf Course.
Stock shot even-par 36 on the front and finished with a 38 Saturday and trails Minnesota State, Mankato's Michelle Reiners by three shots. North Dakota's Alexia LaPlante is second with a 73. Newton went out in 35 before a closing nine 41.
