Mavs to Honor 5 at Hall of Fame Banquet

The 30th Annual University of Nebraska at Omaha Athletic Hall of Fame Banquet will feature the presentation of five major awards to longtime supporters of the program.
Dr. Michael Walsh will receive the Maverick Club Man of the Year Award; John Mock will receive the Women's Board Distinguished Person of the Year, and Rich Juro, President and CEO of No Frills Supermarkets, will receive the Corporate Citizen of the Year Award.
In addition, former UNO Chancellor Del Weber and Tim Fitzgerald, the University's longtime official photographer, will be honored with Outstanding Service Awards.
The banquet will be on Wednesday, Nov. 2 at the Holiday Convention Centre.
Maverick Man of the Year
Dr. Michael Walsh
As the Mavericks' team orthopedist for over 25 years, he has played a major role in providing UNO's male and female athletes outstanding health care. Dr. Walsh is the senior partner of OrthoWest and founder of the sports medicine program at the NU Medical Center.
Distinguished Person of the Year
John Mock
His been an active supporter of women's athletics at UNO for over 15 years. He has been a member of the Women's Advisory Board for 12 years and currently serves as the president. John is the Vice President and Director of Human Resources for Travel and Transport.
Corporate Citizen of the Year
No Frills Supermarkets/Rich Juro
The Mavericks have benefited from the interest and involvement No Frills Supermarkets has shown in the program, from halftime promotions to assisting in the recent hurricane relief efforts. Rich is the President and CEO of No Frills Supermarkets.
Outstanding Service Awards
Del Weber
He served as chancellor at UNO from 1977-97 and was a staunch supporter of men's and women's athletics. Under his guidance, UNO established its NCAA Division I hockey program in 1996.
Tim Fitzgerald
The 35-year employee of UNO in public relations and university affairs, Tim has served as the official photographer for most of the school's activities. Tim has attended and photographed thousands of Maverick events.
