UNO Defeats Minnesota State, Moorhead, 203-97

OMAHA, NEB.--The UNO swimming and diving team won its opening home meet of the season with a 203-97 victory over Minnesota State, Moorhead on Saturday afternoon.
The Mavericks placed first in 13 of 16 events, claiming the top two spots in eight events.
The Mavs swept through the relay events taking the 400-yard medley (Courtney Petersen, Jessica Hessel, Lisa Wemhoff, Ashley Renshaw) with a time of 4:04.64, and the 400-yard freestyle (Lisa Wemhoff, Katey Howarter, Lindsey Kline, Bridgette Schram) clocked at 3:39.66.
Jamie Grogan finished first in the one meter diving with a score of 301.50, while Sheena Kafka captured the individual title in the three meter diving with 299.85 points.
Katey Howarter and Jessica Hessel each captured two events to help pace the Mavericks. Howarter was clocked at 25.07 in the 50-yard freestyle and 59.79 in the 100-yard freestyle. Hessel won the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 1:01.37 and the 100-yard butterfly in 59.13.
Other event winners included Lindsey Kline 17:55.73, in the 1650-yard freestyle; Carrie Murphy 1:11.14, in the 100-yard backstroke; Katie Hubbell 1:15.93, in the 200-yard breaststroke; Beth Roach with a time of 5:24.43 in the 500-yard freestyle and Adrienne Losee with a time of 4:48.52 in the 400-yard IM.
With the victory, UNO is 5-2 on the season in its dual meets. The next competition for the Mavs will be in two weeks when they host the Mutual of Omaha Invite.
