Mavericks Split in Double Dual

The Mavericks won two diving and three swimming events Saturday while splitting with Truman State and South Dakota in a double-dual meet at the HPER Pool. Truman State defeated UNO 145-139, while the Mavs edged South Dakota, 161-135.
Truman State swept its two matches by defeating the Coyotes, 155-109. In the men's dual meet, Truman State downed USD, 164-111.
UNO's Lindsey Kline won the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 5:12.37 and Jessica Hessel claimed the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 59.63 seconds for the two individual swim wins. The relay team of Kline, Hessel, Beth Roach and Lisa Wemhoff also won the 400-yard freestyle relay with a time of 3:35.92.
Jamie Grogan and Sheena Kafka gave the Mavs wins in the diving events. Grogan won the one-meter diving event, edging Kafka, and the two reversed their roles in the three-meter event.
Hessel also was second in the 50-yard freestyle and Kline was third in the 200-yard freestyle. Ashley Renshaw earned a second-place finish in the 200-yard breaststroke.
The Mavericks are now off until hosting Nebraska-Kearney on Jan. 15.
