Mavs Win 2nd Straight Meet Title

OMAHA, Neb. -- The Maverick swimming and diving team finished strong Saturday night to capture the 2005 Mutual of Omaha title for a second-straight year, with wins in both relay events and three more individual titles.
Wisconsin-LaCrosse finished second and South Dakot third in the 10-team women's standings. Wisconsin-LaCrosse won the seven-team men's meet over South Dakota.
The 200-yard freestyle relay team of senior Ashley Renshaw, junior Lisa Wemhoff and sophomores Jessica Hessel and Beth Roach took the first event of the evening in 1:49.20 for UNO. In the evening's final women's event, the Maverick 400-yard freestyle team closed out the scoring for UNO with a time of 3:33.71
In individual events,freshman Lindsey Kline took home the 500-yard freestyle title (5:10.10), while Wemhoff won the 100-yard freestyle event (:53.51) and Hessel took home the title in the 200-yard butterfly (2:09.40).
The Mavericks will return to action on Saturday, Dec. 17, when UNO hosts South Dakota for an 11 a.m. dual at the HPER Pool.
