Mavs Flirt With Top Spot, Still Remain in Second

Omaha, Neb.--With two events remaining on the third day of competition, UNO was sitting in first place, only to see the small lead over reigning conference champions, North Dakota come to a close. The Fighting Sioux regained the top spot in the final two events en route to a 931.5-918 lead over the Mavs.
The third day of competition saw many more record-breakers.
After setting a new UNO school record in the 3-meter diving event Thursday night, junior Jamie Grogan rewrote another school record and recorded a personal best in the 1-meter event, logging a score of 426.35. North Dakota's men and women 400-yard medley relay both notched new NCC records. The men recorded a time of 3:24.25, while the women swam the 400 in a time of 3:53.15.
First place finishes for the Mavericks began with an electrifying 200-yard freestyle relay (Jessica Hessel, Bridgette Schram, Molly Connolly and Lisa Wemhoff) that edged second-place St. Cloud State with a time of 1:36.72 to the Huskies 1:36.73.
Ashley Renshaw (Omaha, Neb.) recorded a first place finish in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 1:05.84, with teammates Sarah Clark (1:06.00) and Molly Connolly (1:06.40) finishing in second and third place respectively.
Jamie Grogan (Omaha, Neb) captured the women's one-meter crown with a score of 426.35, as Mav teammate Sheena Kafka finished in third place with a score of 381.55.
The final day of competition will resume Saturday morning at UNO's HPER Pool with prelims beginning at 10 a.m. and finals at 6 p.m.
