Mavs Finish Fifth at National Meet

BOSTON -- The Nebraska-Omaha women's track and field team finished fifth at the NCAA Division II Championships on Saturday.
Anastasia Kyvelidou and Debbie Akerly captured first and second place, respectively, in the triple jump. Kyvelidou had a leap of 40-02 3/4, while Akerly had a mark of 39-09 3/4. Kyvelidou also finished fifth in the 60-meter hurdles (8.70).
The 4x400 relay team of Rebekah Hughes, Magda Orzylowski, Ashley Freeman and Laverne Monger finished eighth with a time of 3.50.16.
UNO's fifth place finish is the best NCAA II indoor finish in school history.
St. Augustine's won the women's team title with 53 points, followed by Abilene Christian (48.5), Lincoln (48), Adams State (42) and UNO (41).
