Mavericks 2nd After First Round in Florida

FORT MYERS, FLA. -- Amanda Stock battled windy conditions Wednesday and shot a first-round 82 to lead UNO into second place in the Maverick-Mustang Invitational tournament at the 5,896-yard, par-72 Port Charlotte Golf Club. The tournament is the opening event for the Mavs in the 2005 spring season.
The Mavericks trail Minnesota State, Mankato, which shot a 337, by 13 shots entering Thursday's final 18-hole round. Southwest Minnesota State shot a 352.
Stock, a junior from Hermann, Mo., trails first-round leader Lisa Spoden of Minnesota State by one shot.
