Mavs Head to Boston for NCAA II Nationals

The UNO track team continues preparations for the NCAA Division II Indoor Track and Field Championships held at the Reggie Lewis Track and Athletic Center in Boston, Mass., March 11-12.
Anastasia Kyvelidou, Debbie Akerly, Laverne Monger, Magda Orzylowski, Rebekah Hughes, Ashley Freeman and Foluso Makinde leave Tuesday with head coach Tim Hendricks in hopes of a top 10 team finish at the national meet.
UNO's best indoor finish at the NCAA's was in 1997 when they finished ninth.
Kyvelidou and Akerly both automatically qualified in the long jump, triple jump and 60-meter hurdles. Akerly will also serve as an alternate in the 4x400 relay.
Orzlowski, Hughes, Freeman and Monger make up the 4x400 relay team. Monger also qualified in the 60-meter dash and 200-meter dash.
Makinde, who placed ninth at the 2004 nationals in the long jump, is making her second trip to the indoor national meet as a long jumper.
