UNO, Minnesota State Tie For Regional Lead

WINONA, MINN. -- Senior Tanis Hastmann seized the lead by four shots, helping to boost the Mavericks into a tie for the top spot with Minnesota State, Mankato after 36-holes in the NCAA Division II North Regional Monday. The final 18 holes will be played Tuesday, with the top two teams advancing to the NCAA II tournament.
Both UNO and Minnesota State finished the day at 662, eight shots ahead of third-place Southwest Minnesota State.
Hastmann fired a five-over 77, the best round of the day, in the morning and followed that with an 83 in the afternoon for a 160 total on the 5,841-yard, par-72 Cedar Valley Golf Course. She holds a four-shot edge on Minnesota State's Katie Mettling, who shot 80-84--164.
Hastmann, a four-time North Central Conference champion, and the Mavericks are bidding for their second trip to the national finals, following their initial berth, which was earned in 2002.
