UNO Wins Regional Golf Title

WINONA, MINN. -- UNO's Tanis Hastmann and Amanda Stock both birdied the second extra hole in a playoff with Minnesota State, Mankato to capture the team title in the 54-hole North Regional Tournament at the 5,841-yard, par-72 Cedar Valley Golf Course. Both UNO and MSU will make the trip to the national meet next week in Albuquerque, N.M.
Hastmann, a senior from Winnipeg, Manitoba, shot a final round 82 Tuesday and won the individual title finishing with a 242, two shots ahead of runner-up Liz Kaler of North Dakota at 244 and three shots in front of third-place Kristi Carlson of Minnesota State, who shot a 245. Kaler and teammate Alexia Gagnon LaPlante, who shot 247, will also advance to the nationals as the top two individuals not on one of the top two teams.
The Mavericks and Minnesota State began the day tied after Monday's 36 holes. Junior Amanda Stock carded her best tournament round with an 80, freshman Sara Wolfe shot 83 and freshman Carly Froehlich an 85.
