Mavs Extend Radio Contract; Football Moves to KOIL

UNO Athletics and NRG Media have extended their radio broadcast agreement for three years, through the 2007-08 season, Athletic Director David Herbster said today.
Under the agreement, Maverick football games will be broadcast on KOIL, 1020 AM; hockey games will continue to air on KKAR, 1290 AM and most men's and women's basketball games will be carried on KOZN, 1620 AM.
"We have had a great relationship with NRG and we're excited that we have been able to continue our partnership," Herbster said.
Maverick games in those sports have been on NRG (formerly Waitt Radio) stations since 2001.
UNO's football games last year were broadcast on KKAR, but were switched this year, taking advantage of KOIL's daytime signal of 50,000 watts.
The announcers for all sports will remain the same. Two-time Nebraska Sportscaster of the Year Kevin Kugler will continue to call the play-by-play for football, with Curt Bohn providing color. Greg Harrington will call the action for hockey with color by Terry Leahy, and David Gustafson will be on the microphone for men's and women's basketball games.
"UNO athletics are important to the Omaha community and we're proud to broadcast the games on our radio stations," Ken Fearnow, the regional vice president for NRG Media, said.
