
Monger Captures Title at Holiday Inn Invite

LINCOLN, Neb. -- Laverne Monger won an individual title Saturday to lead UNO in the Nebraska-Lincoln Holiday Inn Invitational. The Mavs recorded two second place finishes and four thirds in the meet, which had no team scoring.
Monger won the 200 meter dash with a time of 25.03 and also placed third in the 60 meter dash (7.71). Teammate Molly Belling was second in the 60 with a time of 7.65 and third in the 200 (25.32).
Karin Clarkson was the second place finisher in the 400 meter run with a time of 57.69.
Debbie Akerly placed third in the triple jump with a leap of 36-7 3/4 and also took fourth in the 60 meter hurdles (9.21). The distance medley relay team of Kellie Mertes, Angela Kampschnieder, Jennifer Victor and Sarah Zeisler finished third with a time of 12.33.04.
UNO's next action will be Jan. 20-21 in the Ward Haylett Classic in Crete.
