Mavs Get Top 5 Finishes During 1st Day of ISU Meet

AMES, Iowa--The Nebraska-Omaha women's track team grabbed several top 5 finishes during the first day of the Iowa State Open on Friday.
UNO had two women finish in the top five in the 200 meter dash. Laverne Monger placed third with a time of 24.79. Molly Belling was clocked at 24:89 which was good enough for fifth place.
Kellie Ryan placed fifth in the 5,000 meter run with a time of 18:00.67.
Another Maverick notable was Foluso Makinde, who placed sixth in the long jump with a leap of 17-08 1/4.
Action continues tomorrow at the Lied Recreation Athletic Center with the 3,000-meter run starting off the day at 10:25 a.m. Field events are slated to begin at 11:30 a.m. The ISU Open will come to a close with six heats of the men's 4x400-meter relay scheduled for a 6 p.m. start. Results will be posted on www.cyclones.com approximately one hour after the conclusion of the meet.
