Mulligan, Newton Boost Mavs Into 2nd

LINCOLN, Neb. -- Lynn Mulligan fired a 77 and Lindsay Newton an 80 Sunday at Highlands Golf Course, leading the Mavericks into second place after the first round of the 36-hole Nebraska Wesleyan Invitational. UNO, at 334, trails team leader Truman State by seven shots heading into Monday's final round at Pioneers Park Golf Course.
Mulligan is in second place, one shot behind Truman State's Julie Williams at 76, and Mulligan is third.
The other first round scores for the Mavericks included Sara Wolfe at 88, Amy Powell at 89 and Erin Ommen at 90.
Kate O'Dea, with an 84, and Rachel Mooberry, with an 87, are competing as individuals.
