Mavs Drop Season Opener to Jayhawks

The Maverick women's swimming and diving team scored 13 top-three finishes in its season opener, but fell to Kansas 220-79 Saturday afternoon at the HPER Swimming Pool.
Nebraska-Omaha was led in the water by senior Lisa Wemhoff, who placed third in both the 50 yard free (:25.36) and the 100 yard free (:54.89) events. Wemhoff also anchored the third-place 400-medley relay team (1:53.31) and the 400-yard freestyle relay team, which placed second with a time of 3:40.60.
Junior Adrienne Losee placed third in both the 100-yard breastroke( 1:10.06) and the 200-yard breaststroke events (2:36.16).
Sophomore Lindsey Kline placed third in the 1000-yard freestyle (11:02.27) and took second in the 500-yard free in a time of 5:26.13.
The Mavericks will hit the road next Friday in a 6 p.m. dual at South Dakota.
