UNO Finishes Fifth at NCC Championships

VERMILLION, S.D. -- The University of Nebraska at Omaha women's cross country team finished fifth at the 2006 North Central Conference Championships Saturday at Don Baker Memorial Cross Country Course in Vermillion, S.D. North Dakota won the women's team title for the fifth time in school history, claiming its first championship since 2001.
Junior Kaylen Harris was the top Maverick performer, finishing ninth in a time of 22:59.22. Sophomore Kelli Mertes placed 19th (23:26.20) and junior Tahnee Tuenge was 20th (23:27.99).
The Mavericks return to action on Saturday, Nov. 4, when they compete at the NCAA II North Central Regional in Wayne, Neb.
