Mavericks Power Past Aqualopers

The Maverick swimming and diving team won every event during a 668-481 victory over Nebraska-Kearney on Friday night at HPER pool.
Freshman Jessica LaFave won the 100 meter backstroke in a time of 1:04.55, while also placing second at the 100 butterfly, 400 yard IM and 100 yard IM events. She also placed third at the 100 yard breaststroke, giving her 5 top-three finishes on the night.
Junior Adrienne Losee placed in the top three during four events including a pair of individual titles at the 400 Meter IM (4:45.68) and the 800 meter IM (1:03.49).
Sophomore Janel Lawonn dominated in the diving part of Friday's competition, scoring victories in both the 1 meter (244.90) and the 3 meter event (240.10). Both scores were season highs for Lawonn.
The Aqualopers, now 1-2, have dropped eight straight matches to the Mavericks, dating back to the 2002-2003 season.
The Mavericks (2-2) will return to the water next Friday night at the Truman State Invite in Kirkville, Mo.
