Mavericks Hold 1-Shot Lead in NCC Meet

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. -- Juniors Lindsay Newton and Lynn Mulligan each shot 76 Saturday to share the first round lead and put the Mavericks into first place after the first round of the 54-hole North Central Conference golf tournament. UNO holds a one-shot edge over Augustana entering Sunday's second round.
Newton and Mulligan are tied with Augustana's Courtney Belanger for the top spot after their four-over-par rounds on the 5,858-yard, par-72 Elmwood Golf Course. Sunday's round will be played on the Westward Ho Golf Course.
UNO's team total of 320 included rounds of 82 by freshman Erin Ommen, to tie for 10th, and an 86 by junior Kate O'Dea, which is tied for 19th. Junior Sara Wolfe carded an 88 to tie for 22nd.
Mulligan shot nines of 37-39 and Newton shot 38-38 for the Mavericks.
