Maverick Track Team in Action Thursday

Coach Steve Smith's indoor track squad will see its first action of the season today in the USD pre-season open in Vermillion, S.D. The Mavericks will have nine athletes competing in the meet.
Mavericks competing and their events:
Kaeli Bixler, shot put, weight throw; Sommer Bougher, 60-meter hurdles; Ashley Freeman, high jump; Allison Gottsch, shot put, weight throw; Kaylen Harris, 5,000-meter run; Kelly Hollmann, triple jump, high jump; Mary Margaret Nelson, 800-meter run; Tahnee Tuenge, mile run; Ashley Yates, triple jump, long jump.
Smith is in his first season as UNO's track and field coach, taking over for Tim Hendricks, who retired after 19 seasons at the helm, in September.
