Mavs Finish 2nd at NCC Indoor Championships

MANKATO, Minn.--The Nebraska-Omaha women's track team captured three titles as UNO finished second at the North Central Conference Indoor Championships on Saturday.
South Dakota won the team title with 206.25 points followed by Nebraska-Omaha (155), Augustana (98), Minnesota State, Mankato (97.25), North Dakota (75), Minnesota-Duluth (55.50) and St. Cloud State (49).
UNO's Laverne Monger won the 60 and 200 meter dashes and Tahnee Tuenge finished first in the 1000 meter run. Monger was clocked at 7.64 in the 60 and 24.80 in the 200. Tuenge ran the 1000 in 2.59.70.
The 4x400 relay team of Laverne Monger, Karin Clarkson, Magda Orzylowski and Rebekah Hughes placed second with a time of 3:56.59.
Other second-place finishes: Molly Belling, 60 meter dash, 7.74; Karin Clarkson, 400 meter run, 56.60; Magda Orzlowski, 500 meter run, 1:16.54; Sarah Zeisler, 1000 meter run, 3:02.13.
Third place finishes: Sarah Zeisler, mile run, 5:05.13; Debbie Akerly, triple jump, 36-11 1/2.
UNO is idle until the NCAA II Championships, held in Boston, Mass., March 9-11.
