Mavs, Froehlich, Wolf All 2nd in Tourney

PORT CHARLOTTE, Fla. -- Carly Froehlich and Sara Wolfe tied for second and the Mavericks finished six shots behind Minnesota State, Mankato Thursday in the Spring Tournament, UNO's first competition of the spring.
MSU's Katie Mettling followed a first-round 78 with a five-over 77 to win medalist honors with a 155. MSU shot 324 Thurday for a 656 total, while UNO shot 335 for a 36-hole score of 662. Missouri Western withdrew because of travel considerations after an opening round 390.
Froehlich shot an 84 Thursday for a 163 total on the par-72, 6,350 yard Port Charlotte Golf Club. Wolfe, after an opening 83, shot an 80 in the second round.
UNO's best score came from Lynn Mulligan, who rebounded from an opening-round 90 to fire a four-over 76 Thursday.
The Mavericks are now idle until playing in the 18-hole Augustana Invitational on April 1.
