Mavericks to Play in USD Meet

The Mavericks resume tournament action this weekend when they compete in the 36-hole South Dakota Invitational in Vermillion on Sunday and Monday, April 1-2. UNO, originally scheduled to compete Saturday in the Augustana Invitational, has withdrawn from that event. The USD Invitational will be played at The Bluffs, a 5,965-yard, par-72 course which will also be the site of the NCAA II North Regional tournament May 1-2.

UNO finished six shots behind Minnesota State, Mankato in a tournament in Port Charlotte, Fla. Carly Froehlich and Sara Wolfe led UNO with to finish in a tie for second at the Port Charlotte Golf Club. Each shot a 163 in the 36-hole event. Lynn Mulligan shot the low round in the tournament with a second-round 76 to help her finish in a tie for fifth at 166. UNO had six players finish in the top 10. Amanda Stock, recovering from shoulder surgery in the fall, shot a first-round 83 before withdrawing.

UNO will host the eight-team Ironwood Collegiate Classic on April 7-8. The Mavericks have won the event three straight years. The Mavericks will have two teams entered in the meet, which also includes Minnesota State, Mankato, South Dakota, North Dakota, Truman State, Missouri Western and Augustana. Tee times will be at 9:30 a.m. on Friday, April 7, and at 1 p.m. on Saturday, April 8.
