
UNO Wins Bearcat Invitational

MARYVILLE, Mo.--The Nebraska-Omaha women's track and field team won seven events and racked up 169 points while capturing the team title at the 17-team Northwest Missouri State Bearcat Invitational on Saturday.
Foluso Makinde won both the triple jump (11.48m) and long jump (5.94m) titles and also placed third in the 100-meter dash (12.53). Laverne Monger also captured two titles of her own by sweeping through the 100-meter and 200-meter races with times of 12.12 and 24.53, respectively. Tahnee Tuenge placed first in the 1500-meter run with a time of 4:42.31.
The 4x100 relay team of Monger, Becky Hughes, Foluso Makinde and Molly Belling emerged as winners with a time of 46.80. The 4x400 team of Hughes, Karin Clarkson, Lisa Lane and Magda Orzylowski also finished first with a time of 3:54.64.
In all, UNO finished with 15 top three finishes.
UNO's next action will be April 8 in the Concordia Invite in Seward, Neb.
