Mavericks Sign 2 Golf Recruits

University of Nebraska at Omaha golf coach Tim Nelson announced today that two Nebraska high school standouts have signed national letters of intent to attend UNO and play golf for the Mavericks next fall.
Amy Powell of Lincoln, and Rachael Mooberry of Norfolk both finished in the top 15 of last fall's state tournament.
Mooberry, the daughter of Mark and Marjorie Mooberry, was an all-conference player at Norfolk High School. She also won the GNAC championship and was a member of the North-South Junior Cup team in 2005. She is a member of the National Honor Society, the national honor roll and a two-year selection for the All-GNAC academic award. Her father is the teaching professional at Norfolk's Eldorado Hills Golf Course.
Powell led her Lincoln Southeast team to the district team title while finishing sixth and went on to finish 15th in the state meet last fall. She won the Lincoln Public Schools championship in 2005 and earned all-state honors. A four-year letterwinner in golf, she also won three letters in soccer. Powell is a Sertoma Award Winner for 2005-06 as well. She plans to major in physical education at UNO. Powell is the daughter of Jon and Candy Powell.
The two newest recruits bring Nelson's total to three signees for 2006-07. Last fall, Erin Raridon Ommen of 2005 Metro Conference champion Millard North High School signed a national letter of intent to attend UNO. Ommen was the runner-up in the Metro Conference tournament and finished fifth in the state tournament this fall. Erin is the daughter of Todd Ommen and Tamara Raridon.
