Mavericks 7th After First Round

ALLENDALE, Mich. -- Senior Amanda Stock shot a three-over par 75 Wednesday in the first round of the 72-hole NCAA II women's golf championship to help put the Mavericks in seventh place in the eight-team field after the first day at the par-72, 5,882-yard The Meadows Golf Course.
The Mavericks trail team leader Rollins, the two-time defending national champions, by 27 shots. UNO will tee off at 8:50 a.m. CDT on Thursday.
Stock is tied for ninth in the tournament, three shots behind Florida Southern's Lindsey Bergeon and Grand Valley State's Kate MacDonald, who both shot even-par 72. Stock registered 15 pars and three bogeys in the first round.
Sophomore Lynn Mulligan is tied for 34th after shooting an 81. She posted 10 pars in her opening round.
Sophomore Lindsay Newton had an up-and-down round with three-double bogeys, eight pars and a birdie while recording an 83. She currently is tied for 37th place.
Senior Amanda Houtz sits in 43rd place after shooting an 85 which included two triple-bogeys and a double bogey. Houtz settled down on the back nine, parring five of the last six holes.
Rollins, with a 297 total, is 10 shots ahead of Ferris State.
