Mavs Finish 7th at NCAA II Golf Championships

ALLENDALE, Mich. -- Sophomore Lindsay Newton fired a five-over 77 on Saturday to help lead the Mavericks to a seventh place finish at the 2006 NCAA II Women's Golf Championships. Nebraska-Omaha also finished seventh in 2005. Rollins won their third-consecutive national championship, finishing with a 919 team toal, five strokes ahead of second place Ferris State.
Newton registered a 238 total in the 54-hole event at The Meadows Golf Club to finish in a tie for 14th. Senior Amanda Stock, playing her final collegiate round, shot an 85 to finish at 244 and in a tie for 26th.
Sophomores Lynn Mulligan and Carly Froehlich each posted 79s on the day. Mulligan finished the tournament at 247, tied for 32nd. Froehlich and senior Amanda Houtz both finished with a 253 total, tied for 41st.
Rollins' Mariana De Biase captured individual honors, finishing the tournament with a four-over total of 220.
