Mavs Finish Second at NCC Championships

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. -- Molly Belling won titles in the 100 and 200-meter dashes and was also on the winning 4x100 relay team as Nebraska-Omaha finished second at the North Central Conference Outdoor Championships on Saturday.
Belling, who set a meet record in the 100-meter race preliminary race Friday night (11.58), captured Saturday's sprint with a time of 11.61. In the 200, Belling set meet and school records in the 200-meter dash with a time of 23.44. She then teamed up with Laverne Monger, Foluso Makinde and Debbie Akerly to win the 4x100 in a time of 46.44.
Magda Orzylowski also won a title in the 400-meter hurdles, clocking 1:01.29.
The Mavs' 4x400-meter relay also had a second place medal with a time of 3:56.46 seconds.
Others top 3 finishes Saturday included Monger, second in the 100 and 200-meters; Akerly, second in 100 hurdles and Karin Clarkson, third in the 400-meter run.
The Mavericks finished the two-day conference championships with 150 points. The University of South Dakota was the meet victor with 206 total points. North Dakota finished third with 134.67 points, followed by fourth place Minnesota State, Mankato (109 points). Meet host Augustana College placed fifth with 107 points, followed by the University of Minnesota Duluth in sixth (81.33 points) and St. Cloud State University in seventh (67 points).
