Mavs Place 2 in Top 10 at NCC Heptathlon

YANKTON, S.D.-- Nebraska-Omaha's Debbie Akerly finished second at the North Central Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championships Multi Event competition on Tuesday, hosted by the University of South Dakota.
Akerly, a senior from Cedar Rapids, Iowa, had a two-day point total of 4,341. UNO sophomore Julie Gass (Valentine, Neb.) was the other Maverick to compete in the heptathlon, which consisted of 13 athletes. She placed seventh with 3,705 points.
South Dakota's Mara McGill won the seven-event competition with 4,502 points.
