Mavs Hopeful of Top 10 Finish at Nationals

The Nebraska-Omaha women's track and field team will be sending eight athletes to Emporia Kan., this week for the NCAA Division II Outdoor Championships at Fran Welch Stadium on the Zola Witten Track. Coach Tim Hendricks' squad will be competing in six different events over a three day period from May 25-27.
Foluso Makinde will be searching for a sweep of national titles in the long jump. Makinde has won the NCAA long jump indoor title in each of the past two seasons. She will also compete in the 400-meter relay.
Molly Belling, who was recently named the North Central Region's Athlete of the year by the U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association, will be competing in the 100-meters, 200-meters, and 400-meter relay, along with teammate Laverne Monger.
UNO's 1,600-meter relay team of Karin Clarkson, Angela Kampschnieder, Lisa Lane and Magda Orzylowski will run the priliminary race on Friday with the final scheduled for Saturday. In addition, Orzylowski is slated for the 400-meter hurdles. Debbie Akerly will also anchor the 400-meter relay team.
