Newton's 79 Leads Mav Golfers

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. -- Lindsay Newton's first-round 79 Monday led UNO to a 323 in the Drury University Invitational Golf Tournament at Rivercut Golf Course. The second round of the 36-hole, 22-team event will begin at 8 a.m. Tuesday.
The other first-round scores for the Mvaericks, in their first fall event, inlcuded Sara Wolfe at 80, Lynn Mulligan at 81, Kate O'Dea, 83 and Erin Ommen at 87.
Rachel Moorberry shot and 80 and Amy Powell an 83 while competing individually in the tournament.
UNO is in 11th place in the meet behind Redlands Community College, which leads the tournament with a 300 total.
