Mavericks Tie for 7th in Opening Meet

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. -- Lynn Mulligan fired a two-over-par 74 Tuesday and Lindsay Newton added a 77 to lead UNO to a tie for seventh place in the Drury Invitational Golf Tournament.
Mulligan, a junior from Kansas City, Mo., finished in a tie for 12th place individually with a 36-hole total of 155. Newton, a junior from North Platte, tied for 15th one shot back with a 156 after an opening 79.
UNO shot 312 Tuesday, following a first-round 323 to finish at 635 on the 5,823-yard, par-72 Rivercut Golf Course. Redlands Community College finished at 611 to win the 20-team tournament.
The other UNO scores included Sara Wolfe, who fired a pair of 80s to finish tied for 30th at 160; Kate O'Dea, who shot 83-81--164 and Erin Ommen, 87-85--172.
Freshmen Rachael Mooberry, who shot 80-83--163, and Amy Powell, 83-88--171, competed as individuals.
UNO's next action will be Saturday and Sunday in the Concordia-St. Paul Invitational, to be played at The Jewel Golf Course in Lake City, Minn.
