Repeat NCC Title is Goal for Mavericks

The Mavericks will head to Sioux Falls, S.D., this weekend with their sights set on repeating as North Central Conference champions in the final 54-hole league tournament that begins Saturday.
The first round will be played Saturday on the Elmwood Golf Course with tee times starting at 10:30 a.m. Sunday's second round will begin at approximately 10:30 a.m. at the Westward Ho Country Club and Monday's final round will begin at 9:30 a.m. at Prairie Green Golf Course. All are par-72 layouts.
UNO will be trying to add its fourth championship plaque to the trophy case as well as its fourth straight tournament title of the fall.
The UNO lineup of seniors Sara Wolfe, Lindsay Newton and Lynn Mulligan and sophomores Erin Ommen and Abbey Weddle have captured wins in each of the past three weeks.
Last year, UNO edged Augustana for the team title by five shots and Newton finished second, losing in a playoff on the first extra hole. All except Weddle, a transfer from Missouri Western, competed in last year's event. UNO's other NCC titles came in 2002 and 2003.
