
UNO Records Second-Straight Upset

OMAHA -- For the second consecutive night, the University of Nebraska at Omaha upset a ranked team, sweeping No. 12 Minnesota State, Mankato 3-0 (30-26, 30-23, 30-22) Saturday night in North Central Conference volleyball action before 786 fans at the Sapp Fieldhouse.
The Mavericks, who outlasted 13th-ranked Augustana in five games on Friday night, moved into second place in the NCC standings and are now 14-8 overall and 6-4 in league play. Minnesota State fell to 17-7 and 5-4.
Senior Carlie Christensen led the Mavericks with 12 kills and five blocks. Sophomore Ellen Thommes added eight kills, while senior Nicole McLeod notched seven kills, 12 digs, and five blocks in the victory.
Senior Katie Agnew guided the Maverick offense, recording 28 assists, nine digs, and a career-high four service aces.
Kayla Jansen and Annie Rice led the UNO defense with 17 and 16 digs, respectively, as MSU hit just .074 in the match.
Ashley Nachreiner led MSU with a match-high 13 kills.
The Mavericks, who have won five-straight matches, will continue NCC action next Friday, Nov. 2, when they travel to Grand Forks, N.D. for a 7 p.m. match with North Dakota.
