Mavs 2nd, Pull Within 9 at NCC Meet

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. -- Sara Wolfe fired her second-straight 78 Sunday as the Mavericks trimmed three shots off of Augustana's lead to pull within nine of the Vikings after two rounds of the North Central Conference golf tournament.
Wolfe, at 156, trails Augustana's Courtney Belandger by three shots entering Monday's final round of the 54-hole championship. Her round was one of three by the Mavericks in the 70s over the par-72, 5,960-yard Elmwood Golf Course.
Erin Ommen added a 79 fopr a two-round total of 159, good for a tie at eighth, and Lindsay Newton a 78 for a 160 to tie for 10th. Lynn Mulligan, after an 81, is 12th and Abbey Weddle, with an 82, is tied for 16th.
UNO shot the field's best round Sunday with a 316 for a 636 total, while Augustana followed a first-round 308 with a 319. North Dakota is third, nine shots behind the Mavericks with a two-round total of 645.
The Mavericks are looking to win their second NCC title in a row.
