Kansas Sweeps Past Mavs

LAWRENCE, Kan. -- The Maverick 200-yard freestyle relay team captured the top three spots, but Kansas swept past UNO in the rest of the events Saturday to win a 153-67 non-conference dual meet decision at the Robinson Natatorium.
The team of Kristy Gmeiner, Katey Howarter, Cait Hopkins and Jessica Hessel won the 200-yard freestyle relay with a time of 1:40.23. Adrienne Losee, Lindsey Miletta, Megan Guthmiller and Lisa Elworth were second, ahead of the team of Ashley Barna, Tori Foreman, Shayna Gard and Lindsey Kline.
Hessel and Jessica LaFave each record second-place individual finishes. Hessell's was in the 50-yard butterfly, finishing behind Ashley Leidigh. Losee and Tessa Edwards were Nos. 3-4. LaFave lost out to Joy Bunting of Kansas in the 200-yard individual medley, with Laura Kemp third.
UNO is idle until competing in the Husker Invitational in Lincoln, Neb., Nov. 16-17.
